    Default Water Pump replacement

I have a 1985 50hp Force 507X5A and need to replace the impeller. The housing has some pitting on the top inside surface. Do I need to replace that too? It's pretty pricey but if it needs to be done so be it.

Where the best place to get this kit or Impeller.

Can I replace the driveshaft seals and the shift rod seals without taking the entire lower unit apart?

Judging by the condition of that housing, I'd have to say yes- replace it. You're just going to tear up impellers REAL fast in there, cheaper to replace it now than 1/2 the life of your impellers. As for the other seals- I'm pretty sure you have to disassemble to replace all of them. Not a huge project if you're relatively handy. Just take your time and don't force anything.

yeah minor pitting is okay but yours looks a bit rough so if you have the money go ahead and replace the housing.

Thanks for the feedback. I went ahead and just replaced the Impeller and the seal on the input shaft of the lower unit. That took care of my leaking LU. It turns out that my cooling issue was caused by mud sucked up into the thermostat. Cleaned that out and it is working great!
